Jobs at American Family – Nursing

shutterstock_33850891In keeping in step with my last blog,  I am going to write about another interesting job here at American Family.  For persons with an RN degree, working in a clinical setting is not the only option.  We have positions in our claims offices for “Medical Services Specialists”.  The duties involve working on claim files to help adjusters identify medical/legal issues  to help them properly evaluate claims when someone has been injured.  One thing about this job is that it is a M-F job, so the unique hours a nurse may have to work are not at issue.   A current RN license is required for this job.  If you want to learn more about that job, look at our job board as we have one posted currently www.americanfamilyinsurance.jobs.

Nothing would be better than to work for American Family. I have had the good fortune of starting my Secretarial career at the ripe age of seventeen. I was taken under wings of some of the best Administrators in Houston, Texas. Everything I know is self-taught which entails having good common-sense.

One of my biggest accomplishments are my seventeen years in the legal field.

The downside of my statement above, I have been unemployed since December and with each Resume submitted, the same feedback is given, “you are over qualified”.

Being new to the State of Ohio, I am looking for guidance and/or advice on how to overcome and most importantly, find work in another industry while applying the vast knowledge obtained such as, customer care; legal issues such as medical malpractice to marketing.

Finally, someone knows about the inner-workings! What I am experiencing today are employers that stereotype the Legal industry and truly beleive that you only deal with legal functions. In my career, I have been a Receptionist, Secretary, Legal Assistant, Researcher, Machine Repairman, Caterer, Graphic Designer, Hostess…you get the picture.

What draws me to American Family is what I have found in my research of AF is the longevity of their employees. Something is working well at AF! The legal field is not one of stability and at this point in my life, I want to begin and end with my next job. Maybe one day I can proudly say, I work for American Family!
